Foresight in Ecosystems –
FORECO project
FORECO is a multidisciplinary co-innovation project focusing on strategic foresight practices in ecosystems and the AI-assisted tools that support them. The project investigates how strategic foresight, carried out jointly by actors across an ecosystem, should be practised to create real value for the entire ecosystem and its individual companies.
While foresight typically focuses on generating strategic insights and future scenarios, FORECO goes two steps further by examining ecosystem-level strategic decision-making and proactive market shaping. Artificial intelligence and data-sharing infrastructures are harnessed efficiently and securely for the joint collection, analysis, and processing of foresight information.
FORECO is based on three fundamental observations:
- Companies increasingly utilise strategic foresight in their innovation and business operations.
- Business is often conducted within ecosystems involving several companies within the same supply chain.
- Despite this, joint foresight is rarely practised among these companies.
FORECO aims to drive significant national change in this final observation, strengthening ecosystems’ ability to both meet and create future demand in international markets.
